Wizard of Oz Week 2: It's all coming together!

This week we’ve been finishing off Act One as Dorothy, Toto, Tin man, Scarecrow and Lion journey through the Wicked Witch’s enchanted poppy field where the Witch attempts to proven them from meeting the Wizard by using the smell of the poppies to send them to sleep!

Once that was set we then started focussing on Act Two where our intrepid adventurers made it to the gates of Oz and met the slightly bonkers Guard. They soon discover that, in fact, everyone in Oz is slightly bonkers!  And their costumes certainly reflect that!

Throughout the week cast members have been taken for costume fittings so that adjustments and embellishments can be made to each individual piece to ensure that our production is as amazing as it can possibly be.

A sneak peek of some costumes!
Elsewhere, The Jitterbugs have been learning their rather intricate and complex dance routine, which we know will amaze our audiences.

We’ve also been running monkey workshops, so that our team of flying monkeys have the actions and movements of monkeys to a tee.  This came a little easier to some of our performers than others, having quite a few cheeky monkeys in the cast already!

On the production side of things, the set has been painted and is looking fabulous, and scenery that is flown in and out has been hung, and the is an abundance of glitter.  We’re set for our most colourful and sparkly Summer School yet!
