“CELL is as perfect a piece of theatre as one is likely to see”

Following a sold out premiere at the Little Angel Theatre’s Firsts Festival, critical acclaim at Greenwich Theatre and the New Diorama in 2014 and a Peter Brook Award nomination, Little Cauliflower and Smoking Apples bring their brand new collaboration, CELL, to The MET Studio on Friday 17th April.

After being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, Ted goes on the trip of a lifetime… and so does his pet fish! As the disease starts to cause his mobility to degenerate, Ted rushes to experience a world outside his comfort zone; from the markets of Lille to the romance of Venice.

Humorous, heart-warming and uplifting, CELL features charming puppetry, physical theatre and an original musical score to tell the story of one man’s final adventure to create enough memories to last a lifetime.

This new production is the outcome of a collaboration between Little Cauliflower and Smoking Apples, two of the most exciting young companies in the UK at the moment. Having lost their Grandfathers to the disease, the subject of MND is close to the hearts of those involved.

Ideal for lovers of theatre and puppetry, CELL is a unique, visually inventive show that shifts seamlessly between varying forms of puppetry, including beautifully crafted, hand-drawn shadow puppetry and object manipulation, to engage audiences with a complex medical condition in a positive way. The show does not focus on MND, rather the personal journey of one man, in an uplifting and humorous way.
