Acknowledged as one of the UK’s world-class chamber orchestras, Manchester Camerata was originally founded in 1972 and are renowned for dynamic performances, innovative collaborations and pioneering Learning and Participation work. The Manchester Camerata orchestra is home to some of the finest musicians in the world and uses music in innovative ways to redefine what an orchestra can do.
“I feel music has to be spiritual medicine for people. Every note has to dance, sing or say something. This is how I see our performances – changing people’s mood and lifting them. It gives you a special buzz, a special electricity.” — Gábor Takács-Nagy, Music Director
Returning to join the Camerata at the Gatehouse will be acclaimed Argentinian pianist, Ingrid Fliter (below), who performed a sell out concert back in 2012. Winner of numerous awards including the International Chopin Piano Competition and the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award, Fliter draws audiences into an entrancing musical world and her performances exhibit an incredible lyrical quality and freshness. She will be performing Beethoven’s dramatic Piano Concerto no.2.
Manchester Camerata’s inspirational Music Director, Gábor Takács-Nagy will conduct the orchestra in two masterpieces by Mozart – his exuberant Marriage of Figaro Overture and Mozart’s uplifting final Symphony, no.41, ‘Jupiter’, which is packed with charming melodies and boundless energy.
The concert brings to a conclusion one of Manchester Camerata’s most successful seasons in Stafford, which has seen near sell-out audiences at most events. The Camerata's final perfomance this season will take place on Friday 15th May. There will be a pre-concert performance at 6.30pm and the main event will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 (£14 concessions) and are available here. Alternatively you can call our friendly box office team on 01785 254653.
