As preparations build for our Stafford Festival Shakespeare production of Othello, we are very excited to announce that Sugnall Walled Gardens will be returning to Stafford Castle with some delicious dining options, including picnics, pre-performance dining and on demand catering.
The picnics for two were a big hit last year, filled with mouth-watering fresh food and drinks, including freshly baked sourdough bread, olives, home-made quiche and cakes, with ingredients fresh from Sugnall’s very own walled gardens, all in a keepsake bag. The picnic bags are available for pre-order only, priced at £25.
On Friday and Saturday evenings (excluding Friday 24th June) you can treat yourself to a sit down meal in the hospitality marquee. For £34.95 per person, the team at Sugnall Walled Gardens will provide a delicious three course meal with tea, coffee and biscotti to finish. With Tuscan chicken, pea risotto and tiramisu being just a few of the courses on offer there will be something to excite all tastes.
Those after a quick bite to eat can grab some tempting treats from Becky’s barbecue gourmet grill. Baroness Becky will also be taking pre-orders for the interval too for those who feel peckish later on.
Orders for the picnic bags and pre-performance dining can be placed by visiting www.awwines.co.uk
The catering will be available for the entire run of Othello (pre-performance dining Friday and Saturday evenings only) from Thursday 23rd June to Saturday 9th July at Stafford Castle.
Tickets for Othello start from £13 and can be booked by visiting www.staffordfestivalshakespeare.com or by calling the box office on 01785 619080.

Next Rock 'n' Roll Panto announced after record breaking year!
We are thrilled to announce after the record breaking success of Jack and the Beanstalk the next rock ‘n’ roll pantomime will be Aladdin, the “wok ‘n’ roll panto”!
The festive show will open on Thursday 8th December 2016 and run until Sunday 8th January 2017.
It’s time for celebrations in old Shanghai as the Emperor hosts a party to celebrate the engagement of his daughter to the mysterious and slightly suspicious Abanazer. Can the Emperor and Princess really trust him? Our hero Aladdin meets the Princess on the street and falls for her instantly, but knows a penniless boy like him could never marry a princess.
When Aladdin goes on an adventure with his best friend Nanas the Monkey could the discovery of a magic lamp really turn his fortunes around?
This incredible show will be filled with a storming line up of classic rock ‘n’ roll hits from Aretha Franklin, The Monkees, James Brown, The Temptations, The Jackson Five, and many more, all played live on stage by our amazing actor musicians.
The whole family will be tapping their toes and clicking their fingers whilst enjoying all the magic, slapstick and audience participation of a traditional panto.
Since bringing rock ‘n’ roll panto back in 2011, Producer Derrick Gask is thrilled to see such popular demand for the unique style of show which sees all actor musicians play classic rock ‘n’ roll songs live on stage.
“We’re incredibly proud of our rock ‘n’ roll pantomimes, as they are built in Stafford, rehearsed in Stafford, and we are delighted our audiences enjoy them as much as we do!” commented Gask.
“To have broken box office records before Jack and the Beanstalk closes is incredible. We can’t thank everyone enough who has been to see the show, some on multiple visits!” concluded Gask.
The last five rock ‘n’ roll pantomimes (Dick Whittington 2011, Beauty and the Beast 2012, Sleeping Beauty 2013, Cinderella 2014 and Jack and the Beanstalk 2015) have seen phenomenal audience growth for the county town venue, with a whopping 7,000 more people attending rock ‘n’ roll pantos compared the last traditional pantomime at the Gatehouse in 2010. Jack and the Beanstalk has currently sold over 18,000 tickets to date.
Tickets for Aladdin, the wok and roll panto will go on sale on Monday 11th January at 9.30am. Tickets are £18.50 adult / £14.50 concessions / £60 family. First week and New Year saver tickets are available from £13.50 on selected performances and there are school and group discounts available too, full information on these can be obtained from the box office.
Aladdin will also see the return of the ever popular late night adult only performances, which will take place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th January 2017. Tickets for these performances are £15 and are expected to sell out fast again.
